Liposuction is a surgery that removes fat from specific areas of the body through a thin tube called a cannula. It reshapes the body; it is not a weight-loss treatment. Arrive at about 8–9 am on an empty stomach. Blood tests and scans are done 10 days to 2 weeks before. 2. Sign the consent forms. The surgeon marks the areas to be treated. 3. You receive anaesthesia, and your heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen are monitored throughout. 4. Liposuction is done under sterile conditions. You are fitted with a compression garment. 5. Pain medicine controls it. - **Days 2–4:** most people return to desk work. - **Days 5–7:** stitches, if any, are removed and the first follow-up is done. - **1–2 weeks:** back to normal routine. Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise early on. - **3–4 weeks:** bruising clears and most swelling settles. - **At least 6 weeks:** wear your compression garment full time. - **1–4 months:** final result. Small amounts of swelling can take up to 6 months to settle fully. You can usually fly 2 days after surgery if you walk around every hour during the flight. ## What are the risks of liposuction? Serious complications are rare when an experienced plastic surgeon operates. Possible risks include swelling and bruising, haematoma (blood collection), seroma (fluid collection), infection, temporary numbness, uneven contours and small scars. To lower your risk, share your full medical history, stop smoking 2 weeks before and after surgery, and avoid aspirin and similar blood-thinning painkillers before surgery. ## How much does liposuction cost in Bangalore? No. Liposuction reshapes specific areas by removing stubborn fat. It is not meant for overall weight loss, and it works best when you are near your ideal weight. ### How long does liposuction take? Most liposuction procedures take 1 to 3 hours. The time depends on how many areas are treated and the technique used. ### When can I go back to work after liposuction? Most people return to desk work in 2 to 4 days and to their normal routine in 1 to 2 weeks. You can have surgery on a Friday or Saturday and be back at work on Monday. ### How long do I need to wear a compression garment? Usually at least 6 weeks, full time. Your surgeon will tell you the exact time based on your skin and the areas treated. ### Is liposuction permanent? The fat cells removed do not come back. If you gain weight later, the remaining fat cells can grow, but your new shape tends to stay in proportion. ### Will I have loose skin after liposuction? If your skin tone is good, the skin usually shrinks to fit the new shape. If you have a lot of loose skin, for example after pregnancy, a tummy tuck may be better. ### How much fat can be removed in one session? The amount is planned for a natural, balanced result, not the maximum possible. Usually 3–4 areas are treated in one session. Large-volume cases (more than about 5 litres) need an overnight stay for monitoring. ### Does insurance cover liposuction?
