# PRP and Microneedling for Scars in Bangalore

*Medically reviewed by [Dr Nithya Raghunath](/about-dr-nithya-raghunath-best-dermatologist-doctor-bangalore), MD (Dermatology)*

PRP with microneedling combines two treatments for acne scars, fine lines and open pores. Microneedling makes thousands of tiny channels in the upper skin, which prompts new collagen. PRP (platelet-rich plasma), made from a small sample of your own blood, is then applied and injected so its growth factors reach deeper. At Contura Clinic, Bangalore, most people need 5–6 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart, and return to work in 1–3 days.

## How does PRP with microneedling work?

1. A small amount of blood is taken from your arm.
2. It is spun in the clinic to separate the platelet-rich plasma, which is rich in growth factors.
3. A microneedling device makes thousands of tiny channels in the upper layers of the skin.
4. PRP is applied over the skin and injected, so it travels down the channels.
5. Over the following weeks, the skin builds collagen, which softens scars, fine lines and pores.

## Is PRP microneedling safe?

Side effects are usually mild: swelling for about a day, redness for 3–4 days and occasional mild bruising. Because PRP comes from your own blood, the risk of an allergic reaction is very low. Pain after treatment is uncommon. Numbing cream is used.

## PRP microneedling or MNRF?

Both treat acne scars. [Microneedling RF](/microneedling-for-acne-scars) adds radiofrequency heat for a stronger collagen effect and often needs fewer sessions. PRP microneedling uses your own growth factors and suits people who want a gentler treatment. They can be combined.
