# Inverted Nipple Correction Surgery in Bangalore

An inverted nipple lies flat or points inwards instead of outwards. It can affect one or both breasts, and some people are born with it while others develop it later. ## Can I breastfeed with an inverted nipple?

Many women with inverted nipples can breastfeed. In some cases, the inverted nipple makes it hard for the baby to latch on. If you plan to breastfeed in future, tell your surgeon before surgery. The best candidates for correction are women who don't plan to breastfeed, because releasing the tissue can affect the milk ducts. Ask your surgeon whether a duct-preserving technique suits you.


## How is an inverted nipple corrected?

1. The area is numbed with local anaesthesia, with light sedation if you prefer.
2. Tiny cuts are made on the areola.
3. The tight bands of tissue that pull the nipple inwards are released.
4. Once released, the nipple points outwards on its own.
5. Fine stitches hold the nipple in its new position.


## Who is a good candidate?

Good candidates are healthy, preferably non-smokers, and self-conscious about how their inverted nipples look. Correction is also done for men.
