# Xanthelasma Removal in Bangalore

Xanthelasma is a flat or slightly raised yellow patch on or around the eyelids, made of cholesterol deposits under the skin. It is harmless, but many people have it removed for appearance. At Contura Clinic, Bangalore, Dr Sreekar Harinatha removes it surgically in the clinic under local anaesthesia, aiming for little or no visible mark. Because many patients have high cholesterol, a blood test is a good idea.


## What is xanthelasma?

A yellow cholesterol deposit on the eyelids. It doesn't hurt or itch, but it can grow and join into larger patches.


## Is it linked to cholesterol?

Often. Many people with xanthelasma have raised blood fats, sometimes from inherited high cholesterol or liver disease. Ask your doctor for a lipid test.

## How is it removed?

Surgical removal under local anaesthesia is the main method. Peels, lasers and freezing are other options.


## Can it come back?

Yes, recurrence is common, especially with inherited high cholesterol.


## Procedure time, recovery and cost

About 30–45 minutes under local anaesthesia. Stitches come out in about 5–7 days, and bruising settles in 1–2 weeks. The cost is quoted after consultation, depending on the size and whether one or both eyelids are treated.
