Fat grafting moves your own fat from an area with extra, such as the tummy or thighs, to an area that needs volume. The fat is taken by liposuction, purified and injected in many tiny amounts so it can pick up a blood supply. How is fat grafting done?
- The areas for fat removal and injection are marked.
- Fat is removed gently through a small cut with a thin cannula, taking care not to damage it.
- The fat is purified by centrifuge or by syringe filtering.
- It is injected in many tiny amounts close to blood vessels, which helps more fat survive.
Aftercare
Don't massage the treated area unless your surgeon advises it.
