Recovery after rhinoplasty

Day 1: go home with a splint on your nose. Keep your head raised and take your prescribed pain medicine. Don't blow your nose.
Days 3–7: the splint comes off, and stitches are removed at about days 5–7.
Week 1: about half of patients have some bruising. Most people are back at desk work.
Week 2: swelling drops noticeably.
Week 3: regular exercise can resume.
Month 1: the new shape is clear.
Up to 1 year: the last fine swelling, especially at the tip, settles.

What are the risks of rhinoplasty?

Risks include nosebleeds, infection, swelling, numbness, a visible scar (open technique), small irregularities, a hole in the septum and, rarely, collapse of the nose. Thick nasal skin limits how refined the tip can look, because it doesn't shrink as much. Some patients need a small revision later.

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Bangalore?

The cost depends on the technique, whether septum or breathing correction is included, and whether it is a first or revision surgery. You receive a quote after your consultation. Frequently asked questions

How long does rhinoplasty recovery take?

Most people return to desk work in about 7–10 days, once the splint is off and bruising fades. Exercise can resume after 3 weeks. The shape is clear at about 1 month, and fine swelling settles over up to a year.

Is rhinoplasty painful?

You feel nothing during surgery because of anaesthesia. A long-acting numbing medicine helps you leave without pain. Some discomfort during healing is controlled with prescribed medicine.

Will rhinoplasty leave a scar?

Closed rhinoplasty leaves no visible scar. Open rhinoplasty leaves a tiny scar under the nose, between the nostrils, which usually becomes hard to see.

Can rhinoplasty fix breathing problems?

Yes. Rhinoplasty can correct a deviated septum and other blockages that make breathing hard, in the same surgery as cosmetic changes.

Can rhinoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Yes. It is often combined with chin augmentation to balance the profile, and with buccal fat removal, eyelid surgery, face lift, fillers or fat grafting.

Can a previous nose job be corrected?

Yes. Revision rhinoplasty corrects a nose where too much or too little was removed, or where breathing got worse. It is more complex than a first surgery because of scar tissue.
