HIFU Skin Tightening in Bangalore
Medically reviewed by Dr Nithya Raghunath, MD (Dermatology)
HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) is a non-surgical treatment that lifts and tightens sagging skin. Focused ultrasound heats tiny points under the skin, which makes the skin produce new collagen and elastin, with no cuts or injections. At Contura Clinic, Bangalore, HIFU is used for the face, forehead, eyes and neck, and for body areas such as the abdomen and arms. Contura's doctors published a study of HIFU face lifting in Indian patients in 2025.

How does HIFU work?
HIFU sends focused ultrasound waves through the skin to precise depths below it. At each focus point the tissue heats briefly, while the skin surface stays unharmed. Your body responds by building new collagen and elastin over the following weeks. This gradually tightens and lifts the skin.
Who is HIFU for?
HIFU suits people with mild to moderate skin sagging who want a lift without surgery: loose jawline, early jowls, droopy brows, a loose neck or fine lines around the eyes. For heavy sagging, a face and neck lift gives a bigger result.
Who should not have HIFU?
HIFU is not suitable if you:
- are pregnant or breastfeeding
- have had recent surgery in the area
- have a pacemaker or metal stents
- have a hernia in the area to be treated
- have less than 2.5 cm of fat in the body area to be treated
- have epilepsy or an active cancer
- have general hypersensitivity

Frequently asked questions
Is HIFU painful?
Most people feel warmth and brief, mild prickling as each pulse is delivered. The feeling is strongest over bony areas and is usually well tolerated.
How long do HIFU results last?
Results build over 2–3 months as new collagen forms, and usually last 12–18 months. A yearly top-up session helps maintain them.
Is HIFU better than a surgical face lift?
They do different jobs. HIFU gives a subtle lift with no downtime and suits mild to moderate sagging. A surgical face lift removes loose skin and gives a much bigger, longer-lasting change.
Can HIFU be combined with other treatments?
Yes. HIFU is often combined with Botox, fillers and HydraFacial for a fuller rejuvenation.
