Double Chin Correction
Women and men commonly want to have their ”double chins” removed. The age ranges from late teenagers to upwards of 70 years old. For younger patients often liposuction or a neck lift will do the trick. For those patients who have weak chins a chin implant will be the most useful technique to correct their problem. For those older men who have loose skin a lower facelift may be necessary to chisel the neck and jaw line and give the definition to the lower face that they are hoping for.
The best technique is really dependant on the given patients anatomy and age. We can best determine that with an in person consultation or very clear photos. The options include chin liposuction, neck lift, thread lift or implants.
Genioplasty / Chin Correction
Genioplasty, which is commonly known as
chin surgery, is the surgical altering of the chin and surrounding facial structure, typically to reduce or augment the appearance of the chin. Most patients who undergo genioplasty desire a more prominent chin, a less prominent chin, or a more defined chin in which a double chin is removed.

Chin Augmentation
Chin augmentation surgery involves placing surgical implants in the chin area to alter the underlying facial structure and improve the appearance of the face. In some cases, chin augmentation may be performed at the same time as a rhinoplasty in order to achieve the most balanced look to the face.
Implants used in chin augmentation can be built from the patient’s rib or pelvis bone but more commonly, prosthetic implants are used. During the procedure, the surgeon uses the implant to change the shape and size of the jawbone (mandible).
Chin augmentation cost varies depending upon the patient’s unique condition and needs. You can schedule a consultation with our surgeon, who can determine a personalized course of action for you.
Chin Reduction Surgery
Patients who undergo chin reduction surgery seek a less prominent chin, and the procedure involves the correction of an over-projected chin. During chin reduction surgery, one of our orthognathic surgeons will restore balance to your face, using minimally invasive techniques.
The cost of chin reduction surgery varies depending on the specific case and complexity of the surgery. You can learn more about cost for this procedure by contacting our surgery department.
Double Chin Surgery
Double chin surgery involves the surgical removal of a double chin, or the excess skin beneath the chin that loosens with the storage of more fat.
Also known as chin liposuction, double chin surgery involves the removal of the excess fat from your chin and is a quick procedure that can be done on an outpatient basis. Following the surgery, a patient will experience a new shape to the face, with a defined jaw and chin – free of excess fat and skin.
Sliding Genioplasty
A sliding genioplasty is performed to correct chin abnormalities and deformities, and can also be used to augment the chin. During the procedure, the surgeon cuts and repositions the chin bone in the lower jaw. The surgery can also be done on an outpatient basis, so patients can go home the same day as their surgery, and like chin augmentation and reduction, the recovery time is very fast.
Genioplasty Recovery
Recovery from genioplasty is relatively short, and patients are often able to return to work within a few days to a few weeks. Because this is a minimally invasive procedure, there is little to no scarring, and patients recover very quickly.
Patients are typically required to follow a soft diet plan during the first weeks of recovery, and may also need to wear a chin sling for the first few days following the procedure.
