Microneedling for scars in Bangalore: PRP, “Platelet Rich Plasma”, is a minimally invasive procedure performed completely in our office with minimal down time or discomfort. A small amount of the patient’s blood is extracted and processed on site to produce a solution which contains a high concentration of platelets and growth factors. This solution is then both injected into the skin and applied topically.
PRP triggers the release of growth factors, stimulating collagen production and skin component synthesis. It fosters regeneration of blood vessels, fat, muscle, and bone cells, leading to rejuvenated, radiant skin at the injection site. As PRP is derived from your blood, side effects are minimal—mild swelling and discomfort with no risk of allergies.
Microneedling for Scars in Bangalore in Detail
Topical application of the PRP solution is preceded by a process called Microneedling, where a specialized device uses a series of small quickly moving needles to create thousands of “micro channels” or holes in the upper layers of the skin. By itself, this procedure will stimulate collagen formation resulting in a thickening of the upper layers of the skin, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and shrinking of the pores. When used in combination with PRP, Microneedling is even more effective.
Topical application of the PRP solution after microneedling for scars permits the growth factors to access the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing the effects of collagen growth and cell turnover. A “PRP facial” with Microneedling provides your skin with a wonderful youthful glow with minimal downtime, as the PRP actually speeds the healing process.
The PRP Injecction
Often we will combine PRP injection with PRP Microneedling. For example, we use both procedures together for the rejuvenation of the under eye areas. Fine lines and wrinkles under the eyes makes one look old and tired. After a course of PRP with micro needling, the under eye areas become tighter, fuller and revitalized.
For optimal results, we recommend 5 to 6 treatment sessions, spaced apart by 2 to 4 weeks.
What to Expect After a PRP and Microneedling for Scars Procedure
After the procedure, mild swelling typically lasts a day, with redness persisting for 3 to 4 days. Makeup can usually conceal the redness, allowing patients to return to work within 1 to 3 days. Bruising may occur, particularly if PRP injections are involved, but it’s usually mild and can be masked with makeup. Duration varies but rarely exceeds a week. While some patients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure, pain is uncommon afterward.
