Why do adults choose circumcision?

What is frenuloplasty?
The frenulum is the small band of skin on the underside of the penis. If it is too short or tight, it can cause pain, discomfort or tearing during erections or intercourse, even in men who are already circumcised. Frenuloplasty is a simple procedure under local anaesthesia that lengthens or releases the frenulum.
What are the health benefits of circumcision?

- Lower risk of urinary tract infections
- Prevents narrowing of the foreskin and inflammation of the head of the penis
- Lower risk of penile cancer, which is very rare
- Lower risk of some sexually transmitted infections. Large trials in Kenya and Uganda, funded by the US National Institutes of Health (2006), found that adult circumcision lowered the risk of men getting HIV from female partners by about half. It does not replace condoms.
Recovery
- Apply the antiseptic cream as advised, and keep the area clean and dry.
- Avoid intercourse for 3–4 weeks.
- Take the prescribed pain relief and wear loose, soft underwear. Most men return to desk work in 1–2 days and avoid exercise for about 2 weeks.
