Dentures are removable replacement teeth that restore your smile, chewing and speech, and support the lips and cheeks. Complete dentures replace all the teeth in a jaw, and partial dentures fill gaps between remaining teeth. Implant-supported dentures clip onto dental implants, so they don't slip. Types of dentures

How are dentures made?
- Examination: your mouth, gums and any remaining teeth are checked.
- Impressions: moulds or scans of your gums and jaw.
- Bite and try-in: your bite is recorded, and a wax trial lets you check fit, look and colour.
- Fitting: the final denture is fitted, with small adjustments over the next few weeks.
Getting used to new dentures
- Speaking and eating may feel strange for the first few weeks.
- Start with soft food cut into small pieces.
- Sore spots are common at first, and your dentist can adjust the denture.
- Remove and clean your dentures daily, and take them out at night unless advised otherwise.
Frequently asked questions
How long do dentures last?
Usually 5–10 years. The gums and jawbone shrink over time, so dentures need relining or replacing to keep a good fit.
Are implant-supported dentures better?
They are much more secure, because they clip onto implants and don't slip while you eat or talk. They cost more and need minor surgery to place the implants. As a guide, complete dentures in Bangalore cost from about ₹10,000 per jaw, and implant-supported dentures from about ₹73,000 per jaw.
Can I eat normally with dentures?
Most people eat most foods once they are used to their dentures. Very hard or sticky foods may still be difficult with removable dentures.
